Had my iPhone repaired at iFixIt Cagayan de Oro
It's been 2 years since I got my iPhone 4. I don't put any case on it and I've already dropped it a number of times. Although I should say it is really durable, all those carelessness I did for the past 2 years actually caused the home button to stop functioning well. I need to press it hard (and at least maybe three times) just to get it to work. Plus, I broke the protective camera glass at the back.

Since I am jailbroken, I could still get the 'home button' function to work by assigning it a specific gesture using the Activator tweak. The broken camera glass doesn't really affect usability. But, the camera lens could get a little bit dirty at times and I just wipe it away with a cloth.

Though I could live with that, I still wanted to have my iPhone repaired. Aside from being able to enjoy all its functionalities well, I could still maybe sell it later on and get the new iPhone 5. The problem was I haven't seen any legit repair shop here in Cagayan de Oro city that could actually manage to repair my iPhone.

ifixit stall at Cagayan de Oro City PhilippinesBut then, a few weeks ago I have heard from a friend that a new stall at Big R called iFixit claims to be an 'Apple products specialist.' I was excited. I have waited a long time for this!

So, I went there and to my surprise these guys were the ones I talk to at Digital Hub (a premium Apple reseller here in CDO). Ram and Eric actually decided to put up a store of their own since they noticed there is a need for iPhone, iPad and Mac repairs here in the city. That was a good idea. They're the first in CDO!

Long story short, my iPhone's home button was replaced. It feels exactly the same as the first time I clicked it. I also had my back cover replaced. Not only did I get a new camera glass, the back of my iPhone (which is a brilliant glass design) has regained its glory.

For some reasons, my iPhone feels like brand new again. I'm happy to know we already got a trusted repair shop for our Apple products here in Cagayan de Oro.

If you got concerns regarding your iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac, you can visit them at the ground floor of Robinson's Mall, CDO. It's a small stall near Bench. They opened a little over a month ago. I'm pretty sure you won't get disappointed with their service. They're really great guys. Big thanks to Ram for taking care of my iPhone!

This blog was written in 2012 and a lot has changed since then. I still get queries so I figured I need to write this update.

1. I now have a new iPhone but I still have this iPhone 4. My brother-in-law is using it now and it is still working pretty well.

2. I am in no way part of the business. I am just one of their satisfied customers. That is why I really cannot answer questions about the rates of their services and I cannot do anything about the negative experiences you shared. The least I could do is to make the owner aware of it.

3. iFixit is still operating at the same location in Robinsons Cagayan de Oro but their stall is looks a bit different from the one you see above.

4. Ram (the guy who fixed my iPhone) still has the same phone number. If you need to contact him, please email me. I really cannot monitor every single comment I get. Send me an email and I will surely be able to respond within 24 hours.
